Happy New Year!
We all make some resolutions, lots of them having to do with improving our own health and wellness. Why not make a few for your pet as well? What are some simple yet effective changes we can make to their diet that are going to greatly improve their quality of life? I'll give you some starters:
Coconut water is a fantastic toxin flush and hydration. Phoenix absolutely loves it!
Is your fish oil in a plastic pump or a glass one? Glass is preferred as there's a longer shelf life - plastic causes oil to oxidize. Keep it in the fridge too!
Can you swap out multi-ingredient and preservative filled treats for single ingredient chicken, beef or salmon strips? You can find them almost anywhere treats are sold.
Is your kibble in a plastic storage container? Air flow speeds up oxidation of the oils in dry food as well. Your kibble could be rancid faster than you think! Storing in the manufacturer's bag with as little air as possible inside is best.
What supplements are you using? Are there any more natural ones with less synthetic vitamins and preservatives that you can use instead?
Making better choices for your animal doesn't have to drain your finances or take up your entire day. Lots of times, I look for things to remove instead of things to add. All of it matters.
Here's to healthy pets in 2026!
